Folk Arts Rajasthan
Book
The Merasi are a unique musician community in Rajasthan, India. The Merasi Counting Book was created in response to the Merasi’s expressed desire for educational opportunities in the context of their poverty.
Traditional Rajasthani folk art is woven into the design of the children’s counting book. The paintings illustrate the numbers. The Hindi-English format encourages bilingual empowerment for the Merasi and promotes cultural exchange in a global context.
